A usable glass inquiry specifies the glass family, thickness or build, width × length in millimetres, sheet or panel quantity, processing, packing, destination, and Incoterm. The tables below help turn a general size question into a line-by-line quotation request.
Float-glass thicknesses listed in this catalog
The current float-glass catalog lists 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, and 12 mm. Approximate mass per square metre uses 2.5 kg for each millimetre of monolithic glass thickness, following Pilkington’s published glass-weight reference. This is a planning estimate, not a measured product weight.
| Thickness (mm) | Approx. mass (kg/m²) |
|---|---|
| 4 | 10 |
| 5 | 12.5 |
| 6 | 15 |
| 8 | 20 |
| 10 | 25 |
| 12 | 30 |
Reference sheet dimensions
These dimensions appear in the float-glass catalog. They are reference formats, not a promise that every thickness, color, coating, or production run is available in every size. Confirm the exact combination on the RFQ.
| Width × length (mm) | Area per sheet (m²) | Approx. 6 mm glass mass (kg) |
|---|---|---|
| 3300 × 2140 | 7.062 | 105.9 |
| 3300 × 2250 | 7.425 | 111.4 |
| 3660 × 2140 | 7.832 | 117.5 |
| 3660 × 2440 | 8.930 | 134.0 |
For example, a 3300 × 2140 mm sheet has an area of 3.300 × 2.140 = 7.062 m². At 6 mm, estimated bare-glass mass is 7.062 × 15 = 105.9 kg. Multiply area by the matching mass-per-square-metre row for another listed thickness. Crates, interleaving, strapping, and handling allowance are additional.
This chart is not a stock list, confirmed crate count, legal container payload, or price quotation. Ask the supplier to confirm available sheet sizes, exact mass, packing design, loading plan, transport limits, and current price for your destination.
Prepare a quote-ready glass schedule
- Identify clear, tinted, low-iron, coated, tempered, or laminated glass; do not treat these as interchangeable.
- Give the exact thickness or laminate ply and interlayer build, plus width × length in millimetres for each line.
- State sheet or panel count, square metres, and whether cutting, edgework, holes, or other processing is required.
- Specify packing, discharge port or delivery point, requested Incoterm, and any project or inspection requirements.
- Request confirmation of producible dimensions, availability, crate plan, and a current pro forma quotation before ordering.
